  • The Lemont Area tornado sirens are tested on the first Tuesday of every month at 10:00 A.M.

The tornado sirens will be activated during severe weather conditions that warrant such activation.  These severe weather events include:

  • A confirmed sighting of a tornado or funnel cloud aloft reported by a trained weather spotter within ten miles of our community.
  • A confirmed sighting, by a trained weather spotter of severe winds causing structural damage within ten miles of our community.  (Winds in excess of 50 mph).
  • The receipt of a tornado warning issued by the National Weather Service indicating that our community is in the direct path of an oncoming tornado.
