Safe Storage

Ø      Make sure poisonous products such as pesticides, automotive fluids, lighter fluid, paint thinner, antifreeze and turpentine have child-resistant caps, are clearly labeled and are stored in a locked cabinet out of sight and reach of children.

Ø      Store shovels, rakes, lawn chairs, bikes and other sharp and large objects on the wall and out of high traffic areas.

Ø      Keep pool chemicals according to the manufacturers’ directions to prevent combustion and potential poisoning exposures.

Ø      Store gasoline in small quantities only and in a proper, tightly sealed container labeled “gasoline.”

Ø      Do not keep gasoline in a garage with an appliance that contains a pilot light.

A waste collection site operated by the City of Naperville is located at Naperville Fire Station #4 at 1971 Brookdale Road, (3/4 mile south of I-88, 1 block east of Route 59).  Hours of operation are 9:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. Saturdays and Sundays only (excluding holidays).  For more information please call 630-420-6700 ext. 7559.

This site will not accept latex paint.

Latex Paint Disposal

PLEASE DO NOT BRING LATEX PAINT TO HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTIONS

At every collection, in every part of the state, paint is the most common material delivered.  Today's latex (water-based) paint has a very low level of toxicity.  Therefore, the Illinois EPA encourages people with unwanted latex paint to use other options.

You can bring it to the Woodridge Greene Valley Wastewater Treatment Plant
7900 Rt 53, Woodridge, IL (630) 985-7400
Drop Off Usable Latex Paint starting June 2nd through August 15th - Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the following Saturdays: June 14th, June 28th, July 12th,
July 26th & August 9th

  • Latex paint can also be dried with cat litter, oil dry, sawdust or another absorbent material.
Once the paint is dried, it can be put out with regular garbage. Make sure to leave the the lid off so the driver can see that the paint has been dried.
  • Toner Recycling Program

You can drop off your empty ink jet, copier, printer or fax toner cartridges for recycling at Oakwood, Central or Old Quarry Schools.  The schools will benefit by receiving a contribution for each cartridge recycled.  This program is sponsored by District 113A PTA.  For further information, please contact Joyce at 630-243-9038.
